Delivering elite playing surfaces

We are familiar with the exacting standards necessary in sports surfaces and this knowledge showed when our sports surfaces at Horspath Community Sports Hub gained the attention of Oxford United Football Club and the ECB. 

Scope of work

We were contracted to construct 3 full-size natural grass football pitches, 2 natural grass junior pitches, 3 natural grass mini-pitches, 2 natural grass club standard cricket wickets (8 wicket & 12 wicket sizes respectively). 

This appointment included the full site earthworks package delivery, including topsoil strip/replace, subsoil plateau formations, and earthworks preparations to amenity grass surrounds, including viewing mounds, ecological margins, and attenuation/wildlife pond development.  

Extreme weather protection 

During the notorious 2018 ‘Beast from the East’ cold spell, followed by the similarly notorious summer 2018 ‘heat wave’, the newly constructed facility withstood the extremes of the British climate demonstrating the resilience of Talbot’s excellent craftsmanship and ‘future proofed’ design.
